One of the early proponents of dub step in India, in five short years, Nucleya has emerged as one of the most exciting,

experimental and engaging producers in the Indian scene. He has made his mark by focusing on sounds and textures that are Indian in sound but international in appeal.

Nucleya is one of the coolest DJs around currently. Now when you think of a DJ, you think tattoos, cool hair, drugs, after parties… no? No no, I am not generalizing. I’m just sharing with you what a rockstar in my head looks like. Now Nucleya may fulfill the first two criteria, but that’s where that ends. This rockstar is actually a dedicated husband, a doting father and stays far away from drugs and parties to be able to spend more time with his family.

In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra however, Udyan Sagar a.k.a Nucleya sheepishly claims to be one of the few original Indian producers who has broken past all those divides – and for the intent of this feature, we have to agree. Irrespective of what you think of his music, Nucleya has made himself heard. From opening for Skrillex and Major Lazer to playing a short set at a small pub in the posh parts of Delhi and playing the main stage at NH7 Weekender – the growth of Nucleya as a brand and the overwhelming popularity that comes with it has been extraordinary.

Nucleya started his musical journey towards the end of ’90s when he co-founded Bandish Projekt. Since then, he has released 14 singles, a studio album ‘Bhor’ and numerous collaborations. Besides this, there are four more international releases lined up for this year.

Success doesn’t come easy and maintaining that level of success time and again is even more difficult. Has Nucleya made his mark? We’ll see about that but until then F**K THAT SHIT be slayin’ hard.
